Frequently Asked Questions

Birds SA uses Member Jungle software to manage its membership.

You can join, renew and edit your personal details of your membership via logging into your account in Member Jungle on the Birds SA website or via the Member Jungle app which can be installed only on a mobile device (i.e., tablet, iPad, smartphone).

The website offers more features, but most common actions can be done on the Member Jungle app. Finding events, renewing your membership and reading publications is much easier on the app. You can also access the website via the member Jungle app. Just push the Website button.

If you haven't found your answer below, please email the Membership Officer at membership@birdssa.asn.au

Please note, you cannot edit critical email notifications and publications information.

My Membership

This tab is used to summarise the contact details of the primary member, profile picture, current membership (including membership card and membership details), secondary members of a family membership only and past payments.

Members with a family membership will notice that their family members are not listed in the View membership details button. Birds SA leaves decisions about listing family members with the primary member of the family group.

To add a secondary member of a family membership, you will see + ADD SECONDARY MEMBER button. But first consider the following:

  • 18 years and older - can have their own email address should the primary member wish (Please note, only one printed copy of our publications will go to the primary member).
  • Under 18 years - leave blank as Birds SA does not support email addresses for anyone under 18.
  • Relationship - partner, child or dependent options
  • Still want to add a secondary member

You can find more information about adding secondary members by going to Add Seconday Members.

My Payments

In the My Payments Tab, members can view or update their card information for membership subscriptions and other payments.

          mYpAYMENTS

Payment information  displays card information.

PaymentInfo

Payment security is robust. Member Jungle allows you to process online payments for membership, events and the online store. Our payment gateway is powered by the Stripe Connect gateway and is completely PCI compliant, which means that no credit card information is ever stored on your own site and all payment data is secure.

An Auto-Renew subscription means you can 'set & forget' payment as it will automatically renew each year. Note:

  • You must store your credit/debit card details in Member Jungle, and
  • You must remember to update your card number, its expiry date and 3-digit security number on the back of the card when your bank replaces it with a new card. Otherwise, your membership will expire and if you don't renew and update your card within 90 days of the expiry date, you will need to rejoin again.

A member's expiry date shows when their next automated payment is due.

rtaImage (31)

For example, an annual membership that expiries 24 February 2021 and an attempt to get payment from the nominated debit/credit card will occur on 23 February 2021. With an Auto-Renew payment, if the payment is successful, it would update the expiry date to 24 February 2022 automatically. You don't have to do anything if your card details are up-to-date.

The system will attempt to take the payment the day before it is due.  If the payment goes through successfully the member will be sent an automated renewal email (using the standard membership level renewal email template).

If the payment fails, the Membership Officer and the member will both be notified via email.  The member is asked to make sure there is money in their account or update their payment details before the next day.

Note: If the payment fails a second time, both the Membership Officer and the member will receive an email to say that it hasn't gone through successfully. The member will be moved into Pending dashboard and be like an expired member with no access.

If you wish to keep the membership, you must log in to your account and process a renewal.

Manual Pay subscription means you need to physically log in into Member Jungle via the Member Jungle app or the Birds SA website every year to renew your subscription. You will be asked to reconfirm your membership level with 'Manual Pay'. Next, you will be required to step through the payment using the same steps as when you joined. Note, you have the option to store your debit/credit card details or not in Member Jungle.

Credit/Debit Card Security. Whether you choose Auto-Renew or Manual Pay, Birds SA does not store your credit or debit card information. Neither does Member Jungle.

The Member Jungle payment gateway is built on top of the Stripe payment gateway. Stripe is one of the leading global payment gateways and has bank-level protection for data. They have the highest level of Payment Card Industry (PCI) Certification.Within the processing step of a transaction processed via Stripe there are additional fraud checks done against that card and the nature of the transaction. Member Jungle stores no credit or payment data on their systems. If a member ‘stores’ or saves
their credit or debit card, all information is stored at Stripe (with all their bank-level protection for data), and Member Jungle only stores a link that can be used to charge that card for future transactions and only from your Member Jungle website.

Member Jungle also limits the number of payments, successful or not, that can be transacted in a period of time.

More details about Stripe and their security, please read Security at Stripe.

Cancel Auto-Renew Subscription. Read next FAQ.

Under the Payments tab of your account, primary members will see their saved cards and any active auto-renewing subscription products.

rtaImage (18)

A member can cancel their subscription at any time by clicking CANCEL next to the subscription under the Memberships tab. This action must be taken anytime up until a day before the expiry date because the system will attempt to take the Auto-Renew payment the day before it is due.

You can only change from Auto-Renew payment option when your membership is due for renewal, but you must do it well before before two days before your expiry date. Otherwise, it will automatically renew. You will receive a renewal reminder 14 days, 7 days and 2 days before your expiry date.

rtaImage (26)

If you still wish to keep your membership and make a Manual Pay payment every year, you must log in to your account and process the renewal as a manual payment.

Members will receive three (3) reminder emails to renew their membership. The first is at 28 days, then 14 days and finally 2 days before the expiry date.

After the expiry date, members have up to 90 days to renew their membership online.  You can renew your membership by logging in with your current username and password.

After the 90-day period of grace, your membership is cancelled. If you forgot to renew within 90 days and you wish to continue your membership, you will need to SIGNUP again. Please note, this will break your membership longevity

To sign up, click the link SIGNUP NOW button on the Home page or click the link at SIGNUP TO BECOME A MEMBER button.

Payment Security

Member Jungle allows you to process online payments for membership, events and the online store. Our payment gateway is powered by the Stripe Connect gateway and is completely PCI compliant, which means that no credit card information is ever stored on your own site and all payment data is secure.

There are many reasons why you can't log in to Member Jungle.

Have you attempted to login more than 3 times? An email will be sent to unlock it within 24 hrs during business days. On weekends and holidays, you'll need to wait until the next business day.

Troubleshooting

  1. Did you use the wrong password? Recall you have to type it with the correct uppercase, lowercase letters, numbers and symbols. Remember, you password should contain at least 12 characters.
  2. Have you forgot your password?
  3. Have you used the wrong username? Your username MUST be your email address.
  4. Is the Caps Lock key on your keyboard "ON"? It should be "OFF"
  •  If you answer "no" to Questions 1-4, you can fix it yourself by creating a new password as outlined below:
  1. Go to the Birds SA website and click on Member Login in the top menu
  2. Enter your username which should be your email address.  (Note 1, if it's not your email address, contact Tech Admin at itsupport@birdssa.asn.au)
  3. Create a new password by clicking Forgot Your Password on the Login page.
  4. Follow the instructions requested by Member Jungle. When asked to enter your username, enter your email address and when asked to enter your email address, enter the email address again. Yes, it's OK to use it twice. (Note 2, if your username is NOT your email address and you replace it with your email address, you won't be able to login because the new password is matching the old username. Please contact Tech Admin for support at itsupport@birdssa.asn.au).
  5. Member Jungle will email you with a link, click on it to enter your new password and confirm it. So check your email account as shown above.
  6. Record your new password in a safe place and then login using your new password.

If you are still having difficulties, please email Tech Admin at itsupport@birdssa.asn.au
